Sneak Preview of new Carl02 theme

Carl02 preview
Way back in December last year I produced my first template which I named Carl Blue, and was quickly followed up with Carl Green. Over the next couple of weeks these two themes will be merged into a single template, perhaps with additional colorsets, and will be renamed Carl01.

The screenshot shown here is a sneak preview of Carl02, which I hope to release in the next few days, but please don't be concerned if it takes a little longer than this, its really only about 60% complete. If you wouldn't mind, comment and let me know if it will be a hit or a miss? BTW, some elements may be recognizable from other blog themes, but all artwork is my own.

    I know I'm probably all by myself with this opinion, but really think the green column spoils the theme. Yeah, I know, green with blue is a trend - but I really think this theme would look way better if you replaced the green stuff with a lighter red.

    Hi Carl!

    Great effort! I must say that the small thumbnail first off didn't work for me and looked much too cluttered. Then viewing the larger size, it worked out MUCH better for me, and I really like the decent and professional look of it. Your disctinction of sidebars and the clean look of the main content is a thing I love most about your work. It just seems like you didn't focus on single elements that look nice, but try to find something that works out for all involved elements.

    However, might I suggest to try to go with a more 3-color scheme instead of your current 4 color approach? (blue, red, gren, white). The red color doesn't work out so terribly well for me, maybe you could find something in the green or blue color space that would be distinct enough, but not creating too much clutter "overhead"?

    Would you guys believe my partner had the same issues as you both, too many colors! She thought I should get rid of the blue banner and replace it with red.

    So 3 out of 3 opinions say its too much, maybe I need to think about this a bit more.

    This one looks very interesting. If I can change the colours a little bit it could be the next one of my blog (at the first look).

    What is it with you guys and the colors, can't you just be happy with my design??? :grinning:

    Seriously, Robert, which colors did you want to change because I'm starting to think about how I can use the theme configurator to change the colors of each section rather than offer colorsets, so if you could suggest some color choices that would be excellent.

    The way I see it working, I would have a navbar color selection, red, blue or green. Then an about me color selection, red, blue or green. I think this could work better than different colorsets...

    Sorry my english. For myself I would not change but reduce the colours.

    But colours are like computers. Somebody like apple, somebody dell and...

    So don´t hesitate about me... And using the theme configurator to change/reduce the colours would be perfect.

    I´m so excited about s9y 1.1. I have to install the alpha I thing :-)

    Your wish is my command, I've changed the way the theme config works, and now users will be able to select the color they want for the banner, navbar, and both sidebars. I'm actually going to get rid of the red I think, it looks terrible in the sidebar because the sidebar background looks pink, might change it to yellow instead, and leave the about box as red for every combination - any thoughts?

    Seriously great template.

    Can't understand the (slight) complaints about the colours. After all it is surely the basic design that matters ? Colours can be adjusted later.
