Because I'm an ex-South African I always look out for new and interesting things that affect people back home, in particular I have family in Gauteng (actually they're in Bryanston) who are struggling these days, so having a skill that lets you earn an income as a self-employed individual is really important.

Knowing how much people can earn as photographers I thought I'd talk about doing a Photography Course so that you can learn the skills needed to take great photos, edit them yourself, then sell them.

I bought a couple of blogs about a week ago from some people who hadn't updated them for a couple of months, which we all know can be quite a risk since you just never can tell what can of worms you're going to inherit.

In this particular case I've inherited a host account that won't let me run the automatic upgrade plugin for Wordpress. Argh!!! I hate with a passion having to upgrade blog software using ftp.

Sometimes I wish there was an Internet service online that knows about major CMSs, blog enhines, and for a few dollars using Paypal they'll just do the upgrade for you.

But this brings me to one of my other pet hates about Wordpress and Serendipity, the two blog engines I used most for websites. Backing up your files and database, and upgrading is not the easiest thing in the world to do. Read More

A new film, Muchas Gracias, Bob Oppenheimer, to be set in Almeria has everyone talking in Andalucia, especially given the high profile some other films set in other parts of Spain in recent weeks.

Miramax have signed up Mark Gordon, the producer of Saving Private Ryan to produce "Muchas Gracias, Bob Oppenheimer" which locals in Palomares in Almeria province are very excited about.

Basically the plot is based around the accidental dropping of four nuclear bombs back in 1966 when a couple of US Air Force bombers had a mid air collision.

The film will be a romantic period drama centered on the experience of a US soldier sent to Palomares in a goodwill gesture to appease the locals, but who then predictably falls in love with a local girl.

Actors for "Muchas Gracias, Bob Oppenheimer" haven't been announced yet but there is a lot of speculation here in Andalucia that Penelope Cruz might get the lead female part, and of course several of our Andalucian TV stars have indicated they'd be interested in auditioning.

Sounds like movie making in Andalucia might get a big boost if "Muchas Gracias, Bob Oppenheimer" is as huge a hit as Saving Private Ryan.

There are times when I need storage online for files, perhaps they're too big to email, or I want to make them available to a mailing list, and if a file is large the last thing I want to do is use up the bandwidth on my hosting account.

This should be a high profile holiday but sadly very few people even know about it. Throughout the world, today is a day to put down weapons and care for the injured, exchange a smile with the man staring back at you across that frontier.

Today is a day to let children from different nations learn a little more about each other, and wouldn't it be great if they could see adults embracing one another for a change. Imagine the impact on a young child's mind when they see their parents treating their enemy with kindness.
