The other half and I were talking about Christmas presents with some friends a few days ago. They have kids and told us they're getting moon sand for their youngest. We don't have kids but we like getting really cool presents for our nieces and nephews.
"Moon Sand", um, what are you talking about said I. What is moon sand? I had already started visualising kids in space suits bouncing around the house. Ok, I got it wrong, this is a type of dough, or rather sand, that kids can use for making shapes, castles, all sorts of things.
Honestly, I didn't know what to say, why on earth would I send something like that to my nieces, their mother would kill me, it would get everywhere and ruin clothes. No, said the friends its a new design that doesn't do that, it's safe, and anyway they bought it for their children so that should be a good recommendation.
It does sound like more fun for the kids than sending them t-shirts or puzzles, so out of interest we did a quick search online for
moon sand and found their website. The faq pretty much confirmed what our friends had said, it's safe, the kids can mold or sculpt it into anything they want. Not sure where in Germany we'd be able to buy moon sand, so we ordered it online and made my sister's address the delivery address.
Now I just need to call her and warn her it's on the way so she can wrap it and stick it under the tree.
