We decided to go for another short walk in the Serrania de Ronda, this time around the mountain close to Cueva de la Pileta, which roughly translated means cave of the bowl, we can't work it out either so let's just stick with the Spanish version.
Anyway, we had a great time shooting everything in sight, and that's where the piccie comes from. It's a butterfly known as a Spanish Festoon which is really beautiful but is quite the territorial butterfly, this particular individual was very protective of the flowers in it's vicinity and chased off another butterfly that had different markings when it tried to feed.
Today was the first day that we actually saw several varieties of local fauna (are insects considered fauna?) I personally saw at least four different varieties of butterfly, a really lovely looking lizard, a couple of bright colored birds, and some flying black insects with shell-like bodies and weird shaped antlers that looked like nothing I've ever seen before.
The walk was a little treachorous, clambering over rocks as sharp as knives, through undergrowth, around bushes with spikes as long as spears, and all I got to show for it was a picture of a butterfly. Oh well, I'll have to console myself with that.

There is fauna and flora (and mineral)
Fauna is all animals and flora is all plants. Some plants are a bit animal like and some animals are a bit plant like but everything in our world derives from one or the other... (Apart from mineral that is :)

No idea what the flower is, or the festival for that matter.

Well, the picture is great, so that's SOME consolation. Maybe you've said this already, but are you guys trying the different foods or enjoying any of the nightlife? I'd be interested in that as well.
And how are the Spanish lessons going?

Supermarkets here are frustrating, fruit gets bashed around quite a bit so bananas for example are almost always ripe and covered in bruises, and I like my bananas with no bruises.
