There are times I just wish I was 21 again, which sadly seems so long ago these days. You see I've been afflicted with the dreaded grey hair that creeps on as the years pass. I looked in the mirror today and noticed a few more since the last time I looked, but now its really getting quite noticeable.
If any of you have grey hair, do you remember that feeling of finally realizing that youth is now a thing of the past, that you're heading towards middle age, did any of you resort to hair dye to fix the problem? This is where I'm at now. Do I color, or just pretend it doesn't bother me?
I'm lucky that I tend to keep my hair quite short, number two down the sides, blending to a four at the top, followed by scissor cut across the top, and always razored around around the base for that neat clean cut army style look. Keeping a short cut likes this also means I use gel in my hair quite a lot and this disguises some of the grey, not sure how but it does.
In addition, my mother's side of the family have always managed to avoid baldness and touch wood, your head not mine, I've managed to avoid this as well. Don't the say male pattern baldness runs through the father's side of the family tree? Whichever, I'm going to cling to the idea I'll keep a full head of hair until a finally roll over into my grave.
But now I lead back to the issue at hand, to color or not? A very kind friend thought she was paying me a compliment when she said she thought I'm 41, cough, no love, I haven't even had my 37th birthday yet, how dare you? Lucky for her I'm a forgiving sort of guy, except for tourists on coaches...
When I told the other half, using every nuance and vocal subtlety I could master, she simply laughed. I'm told its been around ever since she met me, the grey hair that is, but how come I was the last to notice, why didn't anyone tell me? At least if people had mentioned it a few years ago I could have done something about it. Now, if I start using a color everyone will notice and start thinking I'm conceited, or vain.
Heaven forbid anyone should think I'm vain, I have been voted sexiest man in Berlin, and even most eligible batchelor in Australia, but I'm not vain. The voters of these titles have my utmost respect being dear friends or ex-girlfriends, and the group was a fairly decent size, at least six girls in Berlin, and about eight in Australia, so you know it was a genuine competition.
Yet despite these awards the other half still finds my greyness amusing. She even had the nerve to point out a few errant greys in the nether regions, well I never saw them, and I have done a lot of redecorating over the last few years, perhaps it was just white paint that didn't wash off.
So, tell me dear friends. What should I do? Grey gracefully or find a hairdresser who can match my natural color? Are there oher options, let me know what you think?

I had my first grey hair at eight years old. I'm 29 with plenty of salt and pepper. Doesn't bother me a bit. This is your natural color. Don't worry about fighting it. It's all about how you act and feel.

No worries with the grey hair, when we took time to to smell the flowers we spent 10 days in a spa where we discovered wheatgrass and carrot juice...
I kid you not - pals of mine here in Dubai still accuse me of taking 'stuff' for my hair which thanks
to Wheatgrass is healthier than ever....
Seriously! It worked for us and it's great to see you over at GO! Smell the flowers
