Want a mobile website, have a product or service you want to offer?

mobilemo
I discovered a new way of putting content online, with a twist, this is a specifically for webmasters who want a mobile site optimized for mobile phones.

For the longest time (well, since we've been living in Spain) I've been thinking of putting together a basic info kit on Ronda, our closest small city, simply because so many tourists get here and seem to hang around like lost puppies.

Mobilemo is the kind of solution that could work for me, and allow me to put up a quick guide to the sites, perhaps let visitors download a tour guide directly onto their mobile phones, even leave comments about where they've been and what they thought of the place.

It sounds like something that should already exist, but surprisingly doesn't since mobile websites are still in their infancy despite being talked about for as long as we've had cellphones. You can check out my first play with mobilemo if you're interested.

Creating a page in mobilemo is pretty straightforward, and I guess anyone who has something to sell, or has information about something that people on the move would likely want to find should give it a try, its free, and the mind boggles at the potential.

My only gripe is that you can't place links directly into the content, however the service is new, and to the best of my knowledge quite unique so I expect things will improve as the service takes off. I'd be interested in your opinion, could I be onto a winner here?

Oops, forgot to give this post a title

Young Fashion
Today's post is a special treat for the many ladies who read my blog, I have a terrible habit of commenting on your fashion posts and probably sounding like a typical male, so now its your chance.

Here in Spain the fashion amongst younger ladies is quite different from contemporary adult fashion, for one thing complete color coordination is de jure and you see this sort of look everywhere.

Most Spanish girls have a lovely olive colored skin (I guess you could call it a permanent tan) which allows them to get away with wearing some bold colors that northern Europeans might find less than flattering, such is bright red.

Of course you can't blame the kids for thinking this is a good look, you have to blame the fashion magazines for only showing size 0 supermodels in evening gowns and swimsuits. How on earth is a young lady supposed to know how to dress when she has no role model?

The fashion chains obviously need to take some of the blame too, after all, any responsible retailer would remove super-tight jeans and pants from the shelves, or explain to our young fashion convert that just because her favorite size 0 model wears this size, it doesn't mean she should.

But most intriguing, when did a jacket shrink to something that exposes the midriff so that really long shirts are required to hide what appears at the top of the pants. Don't get me wrong, I can handle big butts, but if a girl has a big butt and wants to show it off then she should do it properly complete with crack.

Obviously this girl doesn't want to show off her butt or her midriff, so you should have seen her when a gust of cool wind hit, she was so tightly superglued into the corner of that wall you couldn't do anything but feel sorry for her.

So this post is dedicated to ladies who put fashion ahead of comfort, for without you, I wouldn't have a post to write.

Entrecard Contest, 3500EC up for grabs

Entrecard Contest, win 2000EC
Entrecard Contest
Here it is, this is something I've seen other bloggers do and it really seems to work. I'm going to give away 2000EC to the winner of my first Entrecard contest.

Here's what you need to do. Its very simple. Write a minimum 150 word post on your blog about my contest, or my site, or anything to do with my themes etc, you need to link to my site and one of my posts in your post body. So that's two links all up, one to my home page, and another to one of my posts, it can be any post. Your post needs to be permanent, but the incentive is that I'll link to you as well.

The prizes go like this. First prize is 2000EC, second prize is 1000EC, 3rd prize is 500EC and the contest expires 20th May. So basically its a short contest, the winners will get their credits on the 20th or 21st. I'll basically put all contestants names into a hat and my other half will pull three names out.

Simple contest, no unnecessary rules, no vote rigging, no extra chances etc, just write a post, comment here so I know you've entered the contest and may the luckiest person win.

Good business ethics get my attention

Every year without fail I make a donation to the Red Cross. This is a small thing that I do, and I don't kid myself about it, but I love it when I see a business doing something similar, and better than that, actually spending some money to promote the fact they're doing it.

Take this Yorkshire based Land Rover dealership for example. They've made the decision to support the British Red Cross this week for the Annual appeal. I like that.

Years ago I was a member of a Red Cross Response team and we used Land Rovers exclusively because of their reliability and fantastic off-road capabilities, and the fact they can be used as a complete workhorse. Very few SUV's would be able to compete with the Land Rover Defender on that front.

Ripon Land Rover is my business of the day for supporting the Red Cross and I think other motor dealerships could take a leaf out of their book, find a cause, then actually get your web designer to add it to your homepage and do a write-up.

You see in business I believe its not just about selling Range Rovers, or having a service centre, or even offering books on Land Rover's history. No, its also about being seen to part of your community, and to support the community that supports you.
