Part time couriers wanted, earn extra cash

Part Time Couriers Required Now! I'm not joking, this is a great opportunity.

My dear readers, knowing that two of you are bus drivers, three or four of you deliver pizza, one of you operates a taxi, and of course let's not forget those of you who constantly pester me about making some extra cash, how about this for an opportunity, one of the firms I regularly deal with has openings for couriers.

Ever thought of becoming a part-time courier? If you have a drivers license, and you're wanting to earn some extra cash this could be just the opportunity you're looking for. The company is SunStar Postal Service (SSPS), a global freight firm based in LA but offering same day deliveries in the US and the UK.

Many years ago when I was a student a friend of mine did a stint as a courier over the summer holidays and earned enough to pay his rent for the next semester allowing him to concentrate on his studies, man was I jealous, at the time I would have walked over hot coals for an opportunity like that.

But of course being a courier isn't only for the young or fit, in fact some of the best couriers are more mature people who are organized, perhaps you're retired or even a stay at home parent, believe me you can make this work as well, so stop reading what I have to say, if you're interested, click that link.

A little bit about electrical stuff

My regular readers will know my little icon on Google Chat is often green which tends to result in a lot of conversations with online friends, and today I had one with a friend who likes to talk about renovating homes since that's what he's doing, and strangely enough its what I used to do.

An even weirder coincidence is that he's renovating a turn of the century wooden house in the US, almost exactly the kind of house I've renovated.

Anyhow we got to talking about wiring, light fixtures, power points, that sort of thing. Luckily for him I've been there and done that so I know what he's talking about, I understand that rewiring an old house can be a significant expense and you need to plan exactly where the various fittings are going to go before your get an electrician to fit the wiring.

If you've ever renovated an old wooden house you'll know that they often have a lot of really inefficient and ugly fixtures that were put in during the 1950's, and of course the first thing you want to do is replace with with some nice looking fittings that can take modern energy efficient bulbs.

Now I happen to know a few of my readers are renovating houses so take a look at this electrical supplies website, they pretty much have everything and I'm not going to link to every page but we were looking through the progress lighting and metal plates categories and both agreed this stuff looks nice and surprisingly its more affordable than you'd expect.

The great advantage of dealing with timber houses of course is that they are a lot easier to work with than brick or concrete and rewiring a house to take advantage of ceiling and wall lights, but I don't miss the work and effort involved.

Google Feed Reader not Working?

I'm having a bit of trouble getting my regular feed to work in Google Reader, it has been working, but my latest post about feral cats in Spain didn't get through and hitting the refresh button on Google Reader isn't working.

Strangely, Feedburner, BlogCatalog and Technorati have all been able to pick up my site feed quite happily and are displaying my latest post. So the only conclusion is that Google Reader is letting me down. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Uh oh, grey hair getting worse

There are times I just wish I was 21 again, which sadly seems so long ago these days. You see I've been afflicted with the dreaded grey hair that creeps on as the years pass. I looked in the mirror today and noticed a few more since the last time I looked, but now its really getting quite noticeable.

If any of you have grey hair, do you remember that feeling of finally realizing that youth is now a thing of the past, that you're heading towards middle age, did any of you resort to hair dye to fix the problem? This is where I'm at now. Do I color, or just pretend it doesn't bother me?

I'm lucky that I tend to keep my hair quite short, number two down the sides, blending to a four at the top, followed by scissor cut across the top, and always razored around around the base for that neat clean cut army style look. Keeping a short cut likes this also means I use gel in my hair quite a lot and this disguises some of the grey, not sure how but it does. Read More
