Here's my first Nokia wallpaper, a photo I love from right here in
Ronda Spain. This is the Puente Nuevo, one of Spain's most photographed bridges, and a truly beautiful stone bridge standing 98m tall from it's base.
The Puente Nuevo sits firmly between the two halves of Ronda, on one side the old medieval city, and on the other the new town that grew after Ferdinand and Isabella had reconquered Andalusia from the Moors at the end of the 15th century.
The bridge was built after complaints in the 1700s that getting from one side of the Tajo gorge to the other was just too difficult using the older bridges lower down near the river. The steep slope up into the city was very difficult for laden carts to navigate.
