On my eternal search for a good host, I've come across a company I hadn't heard of before, in fact looking at their domain name I first asusmed they were a host comparison site, which is actually why I clicked on them, until I got to their homepage and realized they're actually a company that does hosting and they look pretty cool, US$4.95 a month for unlimited hosting, unlimited domains, 24/7 customer service and a free domain with signup.
The company is called web hosting hub and their website looks fairly professional, but what I noticed from the get go was their live chat button, which works, and I was chatting to an English language native pretty quickly, and that is always a big advantage in my book.
As an Internet Marketer I tend to look for blog hosting for my niche sites, and as the Internet search giants change their algorithms to favor large niche sites that means creating blogs, and again, I don't like to be tied to a single CMS, so I have blogs running Serendipity, most on Wordpress, some using Joomla, and a few using b2 evolution.
Interestingly, web hosting hub specifically target customers wanting wordpress hosting and b2evolution hosting. I'm always sceptical of companies that say they are experts in a particular CMS, because unless they actively support the CMS at developer level they're often just marketing themselves as experts, but in this case the live chat operator actually seemed to know what he was talking about.
It's easy to test if a web hosting company is up to par, ask them something simple like do they offer ioncube, or mention you've had a problem with file permissions in the past and can they fix these when they occur. Typically I find that Fantastico doesn't play nice with a lot of host companies who have their servers locked down too tightly.
Web Hosting Hub seem to understand that, and assured me if I had any problems with installing a blog they would be able to deal with it promptly. Time will tell, but at $4.95 a month it's gotta be worth checking them out so I've transferred a couple of new sites to them which I'm now going to build and see how things work. I suspect everything will be good, hosting companies with great looking websites, easy to understand plans, and responsive live chat operators usually stick around for years.
