One of the things I do in Spain is provide consulting services to people here who want to know how to promote their websites, too many people who own websites are also computer illiterate, it isn't their fault, but it means they have a lot of catching up to do.

I could waste a lot of time showing them how to create squidoo or hubpages, teach them how to blog, encourage them to join forums, but the reality is that none of these promote their business website fast enough. Article submission on the other hand is easy, effective, and a heck of a lot faster.

Article submission can still be time consuming if you write every article from scratch, and of course submitting the article also takes time. Now multiply that by however many article sites you want to join, and the workload becomes unmanageable.

Consequently I spin articles and then use an automatic article submitter, and I gotta tell you this works a treat. In a couple of hours I can write one completely new article, spin it using rewritten phrases, sentences, paragraphs and even synonym swapping, then submit the article to over 100 article directories. That is a huge return on my time investment.

Some of you reading this post will say, "Ah, but spinning never reads well", and I'd say you're doing it wrong!
Continue reading "Spinning Articles for Even More Exposure"

Ever since I was a boy I always wanted to be a swash buckling pirate or a medieval knight with a long sword, the ideal of fighting great battles against worthy adversaries has never left me, and of course every film hero carried a knife they could use to free damsels in distress or escape from the clutches of their enemies.

The appeal of Cold Steel Knives has never left me, though these days my need for knives is less about escaping from danger, and more about having a practical use for the knife. Robin Hood and his merry men would use their knives for eating as well as daring escapes, and I do a lot of traveling and working outdoors so a good knife is invaluable.

As well, I'm a writer, although I have to admit no published yet, but I have a lot of good ideas for blockbuster films so it's important I have all the props I need to fuel my imagination. My memories of military service in my teenage years aren't enough anymore, and anyway, I have a genuine need for a good knife.

When you travel or go bush you need a reliable knife for preparing food, and in some places you need it for protection as well, although where I go I mostly need a knife for cutting twigs, twine etc to make my campsite. I've been known to do some hunting in the past, rabbit, possum small birds etc, and believe me you want a great quality knife to make the job easier.

Some people think knives are dangerous and shouldn't be sold, but actually firefighters, paramedics, police officers, and other civilians use knives all the time, and are often used to save lives, like when rescue workers cut web straps from trailers, or seat belts in cars. Wanna check out a good range of knives online, visit The Blade Shop.

I've talked in another article about the importance of anchor text in backlinks, actually looking at that article from early 2008 I'm feeling a little awkward even admitting I wrote it, but in the world of SEO a lot of things change, and so have I.

Yup, in two years I've gone from mega SEO fanboy, to really not caring a heck of a lot, let me tell you why. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is more about common sense than anything, and you can optimize the crap out of your pages, but in the end if the other site has more backlinks than you, they're going to beat you in the SERPs.

Sure there are other factors at play like authority, age etc, but in the cold hard light of reality, he who has more and better backlinks wins. This is why it is so important to get those backlinks, and why it is so important to make sure they are phrased in a way that appeals to search engines - coincidentally, this also helps human readers so it's a win/win for everyone. We call that crafting your anchor text.
Continue reading "Crafting Anchor Text for your Website"

A lot of people get really hung up on getting traffic to their websites or blogs, so they use a variety of different methods to attract traffic, from StumbleUpon, to Digg, Facebook, Twitter, [insert name of favorite social networking site]. But these don't work if earnings are your goal, let me tell you why.

Most desperate webmasters, and lets face it we know who they are, these are the people who have this sudden idea of making millions of dollars online and becoming rich with very little effort. Or, they're from some Asian nation and have a very low standard of living in their home country and are desperate to start earning online.

I don't have a problem with desperate IMers, but I know a lot of the information they read just isn't correct so they do a lot of stupid things. Namely, chasing social media traffic in the hope their visitors will buy something or click an ad.

Now this is where the difference between traffic and backlinks becomes critical. In the past I've talked about getting keyword rich anchor text in your backlinks, now I'm telling you why getting backlinks is more important than traffic.
Continue reading "Traffic vs Backlinks, Which is Better?"

Creating an income from websites has never been easier if you focus on what is easy, in other words chase the easy money, and micro niche websites are the way to go. If you've ever tried making money online, perhaps you've read hundred and one ebooks, or subscribed to the RSS feed of your favorite guru.

But I'm guessing you're probably about to click away thinking I'm just another one of those know-it-all's who doesn't make a cent online, but I've been doing this full time since 2007, and was a part time Internet Marketer for for a long time before that, in fact longer than this blog which was started in 2005.

And for me the easiest way to make a good income online is from niche websites. These are really small sites with just 4 or 5 pages that are highly targeted toward specific keywords that get traffic and have very little competition in the search results.

Here's how it works, I do my keyword research looking for keywords with at least 5000 global searches per month, and at least 1€ CPC, or at least US$2 CPC for those of you not in Europe. Remember CPC isn't the amount you get paid when someone clicks the ad, you get less, and this is why it's important to do your keyword research because without it you might make the mistake of picking a lemon.
Continue reading "Making Money from Websites"

Last week we had our annual Carnival here in Ronda, which is normally a great little procession and a lot of fun. Nothing like the Brazillion Carnivals, or even like Sydney's Gay Pride, Spanish carnivals are mostly about people letting go politically and lampooning local politicians.

If you don't know, the president of Spain is José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, also known as Zapatito which pretty much means small shoe, the inference being he punches way below his weight. I'm not really into politics unlike my Spanish friends, but I really thought this picture was amusing from Carnival. Busco a Zapatero means I'm looking for Zapatero...
Stumbled across a new car tuning website the other day and couldn't stop smiling when I read this line, "Girls are known to have liked high performance and flashy cars for a long time now". LOL, is it true, when they mock our manhood because we spend ours tuning our cars then revving at the traffic lights, are they really saying they like cars?

You can't deny though, for a guy babes and cars go hand in hand, call me sexist or old fashioned, but I like the look of a seriously hot mini skirt wearing babe draped over the bonnet (hood) of a hot little two seater. I digress here, but high heels always make a woman's legs look longer and slimmer, add the arched back as she oozes over the car, well it just doesn't get better does it?

I don't understand these metro guys who think it degrades women, utter baloney in my opinion, and anyway they drool over firemen with sweat and black charcoal on their naked upper torsos, or hunks in boxer shorts, it's pretty much normal for both genders to enjoy seeing the other in seductive poses.

But car tuning is more that babes and bonnets, it's a serious business that generates billions of dollars in jobs every year, and not just for mechanics, there is a whole support industry making things before the product even gets to the workshop (though we can forget about Toyota tuning for a while I guess), plus the modeling and ad agencies that get their cut.

Here in Europe it's rare to see tuning workshops that specialize in muscle cars, most people here drive a car with less than 2 liters engine capacity, VW tuning is popular, so the atmosphere is always different. First, the cars sound different with smaller engines, and almost every car enthusiast also has an awesome sound system, but they only play hard core dance music.

A few weeks ago I bought a license for Micro Niche Finder, a Windows based keyword analysis tool for Internet Marketers and people who want to start on the make money online journey. The thing is that finding keywords is difficult, sure you can analyze and analyze, but the reality is that you need a formula if you're going to be successful.

I'm lazy. Yup, I'm an Internet Marketer, but I don't like work even if it means I'm going to make money from doing the work. For me keywords research is a chore. You go to Google's AdWords Keyword Tool and you punch in the keywords you want to target, then you... it's hard work and I doubt anyone actually enjoys it.

Tools that make it easy to analyze keywords are becoming more popular with IMers because we'd rather spend time building content or getting backlinks than chasing down keywords. In fact every successful Internet Marketer will tell you that building backlinks to your sites is at least 90% of your workload.

Micro Niche Finder takes the drudgery out of finding keywords and makes it easy to determine if a niche is really easy to compete for, or if you're going to struggle against existing competition. The software uses the same basic techniques as using Google's keyword tool, but it gives you a lot more information from the get go.

But most importantly, it has a killer feature that makes the price you pay 110% too cheap. It's called Strength of Competition and it's dynamite. In two steps you could be looking at a bunch of keywords that are so ripe for the picking you'll be wondering how come you never heard of this before.

Strength of Competition means you can tell immediately if the keyword is green (go baby!), yellow, or red (don't bother!). Green means a bunch of articles on ezinearticles or a bunch of blog comments may be all you need to hit number one on page one, and if that isn't worth $97 I don't know what is.

Check out Micro Niche Finder, watch their videos, you will not regret making the decision to buy this software.

What is a viral infection? And why should you care? The trouble with medical problems is the complete confusion surrounding the origins of illness. Too many people rely on old wives tales, or think that an illness is more or less serious than it really is because they know nothing about how it is contracted and how to treat it.

Viruses are a particular case in point, these aren't an illness the body develops through overwork, cell devision, or stress. viruses are in fact a form of life that enter our bodies from outside and attack our immune system and other organs. The most common type of viral infection you'll be familiar with is the common cold or flu.

Viral Infections such as the common cold are easily spread, similar to bacteria, the virus can live in the air or on objects for as long as three days, long enough you or I to walk by, touch the object, and then rub our faces with our hands. This really simple process is enough to ensure we contract a viral infection.

Of course some viruses are more difficult to spread and cannot live outside a host body, so physical contact may be required. This is how cold sores and STDs are spread, though again the method of contact may require intimacy. Cold sores can be spread from kissing, whilst HIV can only be spread through intercourse.

But does knowing how viral infections are spread actually help? Well it does mean that if you are aware, you can take precautions to avoid contracting a viral infection, but I guess most people want to know how to detect viral infection symptoms and then find viral infection treatment.

Parents are especially keen to know about viral infections because they worry about their children, and I suppose quite a few will also be looking after their own older parents, the two groups most at risk from viral infections, and in weaker bodies can cause a great deal more difficulty than in a healthy active adult.

A lot of people laugh when I tell them that Blogspot is a fantastic platform for hosting your niche websites, they tell me you don't really own the website, that Blogspot isn't as functional as Wordpress, or that Blogger doesn't look appealing.

I disagree, for me Blogspot (or Blogger if you call it that) is a great platform, and it's just got better with the addition of pages, which I think are still in beta.

In the past if you wanted to give the illusion of pages on your Blogspot blot you'd create a new blog post then backdate it so it was so far back in your blog timeline that very few people would find it. The new beta pages alows you to create a page just like in Wordpress, and then select where in the template you want the menu displayed.

Currently Blogspot offers menu placement under the header or in the sidebar, and you can choose to enable a link back to the homepage as well. I have to say I'm impressed with this, it is several years late, but a lot of small business people start with Blogspot for their company website, and a lot of newbie bloggers do too.

What this means now is that it's possible for niche website creators to use Blogspot more effectively by putting their about, contact, and privacy policy into a page, and leave the articles for the blog posts, thus splitting things up just the way you like.

Whether you use AdSense or affiliate programs, Google's Blogspot is a great hosting platform because it's fast and reliable, and you can add your own domain to the site if you want. Sure you can't sell a Blogspot account, but you can sell the domain if you've bought one for your Blogspot, and if the site is a niche site, then you can also sell the content.

All in all, I think pages has given Blogspot a new lease of life and I think this quiet revolution is going to transform Blogspot, and make it impossible for people to continue to ignore the service.

Why? Because I get to spend so much time away from the computer enjoying myself with other hobbies. The job of being an Internet Marketer is almost the same as being retired, I really don't need to worry too much about anything, a few hours work every week is usually enough to keep things ticking over.

The other day we had some blue sky so me and my camera went for a walk. I never know what I'm going to see, or what will take my interest on that particular day. that my friends is the great pleasure of have a make money online job, I can do what I want to do with my time. Nobody is checking that I got to work on time, nobody is looking over my shoulder. This is my favorite photo from that day.
This Valentine's day I got a curious surprise from a friend who listening to my endless stories about renovating houses, repairing cars, and my fascination for space travel decided to challenge me to prove myself to her.

Now I don't know why I agreed, maybe it's one of those goofy guy things we do when we like a woman, or maybe she knows me well and the challenge is just an excuse I'm using to do something again, regardless I now find myself the slightly dubious owner of a project for her house in the countryside.

I should tell you my friend does a lot of cycling, and she struggles to life her bike off the drive and onto her patio, so she asked me to build a ramp. I've renovated houses, built a stoop and stairs, but I have no idea how to build a ramp.

When I think about a ramp I know it has a slope, and I guess it only needs wooden slats, but is the angle important, and how do I arrange the joists? Researching projects like these is much easier now that we have the Internet, and I love it!

Without the Internet you'd have to go to a library and hope they had a book that was on topic, or wait for them to order one, same thing with buying books, your local bookstore only has a small selection of books, but with the Internet you can pretty much find everything you need, including free information like the How to Build Things website.

My favorite page is how to build a rat rod, heck I didn't even know what a rat rod was until I read their article but it sounds like a really cool ides. Only problem here in Spain, I've yet to see a car older then 40 years on the roads, oh well, the ramp project is enough for now.

Anyone who wants to make money online knows that one of the easiest programs that pays is Google's AdSense, a pay per click program that website owners can sign up for. Advertisers bid cents or more for each click that brings traffic to their websites, the aim being to convert the site visitor into a buyer.

I'm not going to tell you how to sign up for AdSense, nor am I going to tell you how advertisers determine the rate they're willing to pay. You and I are make money online people and we only care about getting money from people clicking the ads Google puts on our websites.

There aren't any AdSense ads on this site, so I can't tell you to look at the ads, but you probably have ads on your own site so take a look at them in relation to the content on your page. Chances are the ads are somewhat similar, something Google calls being relevant.
Continue reading "My Advice, chase lower paying AdSense ads"

A quick search in any major search engine for an AdSense ebook will find Joel Comm's AdSense Secrets, Janet Smiths Nomad's Guide to Make Money Online, AdSense Revenue Exposed, The Beginners Guide to AdSense, Making Money with AdSense, The AdSense Report, The AdSense Mint, AdSense Techniques, Google AdSense Secrets Revealed, and probably many more.

If you're a complete beginner who doesn't even know how to blog then some of these books may be what you're looking for, sadly several assume you're an idiot savant who can't even tie your shoelaces, but amongst the AdSense ebooks there are one or two gems that you should read.

First, answer this question, are you a complete beginner who doesn't even know what AdSense is? If the answer to this question is yes then you'll be delighted to know several of the ebooks cover an introduction to AdSense exhaustively.

Those who already know about AdSense and Google's policies for publishers will probably be disappointed with most of the AdSense ebooks available, you're probably more interested in traffic generation and niche keyword research than the basics of copy and pasting AdSense code into your site.

On a personal level I consider myself to be an advanced AdSense user, I know how to create ads, change their colors, I know about the rules on how many ads to place on a page, and I know about the things we can't do such as encourage visitors to click an ad or placing the ads too close to other elements so that visitors assume a connection.
Continue reading "Comparison of AdSense Ebooks"

Last week I went for an accidental long walk, 30km long, all because I was trying to find a shortcut from one side of a valley to the other. Afterwards it occurred to me my walk pretty much sums up my life at the moment. I try to take a lot of shortcuts, but end up covering even more mileage than just doing this properly.

Without boring you to tears about my private life, let's just say I'm in a hurry to start my travels again, the really really long walk from Ronda to Roma (Rome, Italy), but I have to wrap up a few things here first before I can.

And I need to convert my websites to fully passive income before I go. At the moment several of my sites still need a lot of maintenance and regular articles to keep them going.

All of this is irrelevant to the walk last week, I was walking the ridge line around a valley, and assumed I could just walk all around, but fences and other obstructions prevented me doing so. The first mistake I made was to try to walk around the fenced property, it went for about 3km, taking me a long way from the ridge and the valley.
Continue reading "Don't get lost when you make money online"

First, this isn't a bashing article, so don't expect lots of rude words, personal attacks, or outright negativity. Instead, I'm going to talk about my thoughts on membership sites like Third Tribe Marketing started by Darren Rowse, Brian Clark, Chris Brogan, and Sonia Simone.

What is a make money online or online marketing membership site, well to put into simple terms it's a forum with extra stuff like videos and downloadable ebooks etc, some also create software (online and/or downloadable) to help you follow the steps they suggest to build your website and start getting links and traffic.

Other MMO memberships sites you may have heard about include Courtney Tuttles "Keyword Academy", SBI, Warrior Forum, Darren Rowse's own membership forum, SEO Book and now, The Third Tribe.

I find it amusing the people behind the Third Tribe are the creme de la creme of A-list bloggers and one would assume quite marketing savvy, yet they don't own the domain name thirdtribe.com, instead settling for thirdtribemarketing.com - I wonder how many customers they'll lose from this embarrassing error?
Continue reading "My take on the Third Tribe by Darren Rowse"

Here's an interesting photo for you, an old scooter with a full windscreen like they used to make in the 1960s. It's the only one I've seen like it in Ronda, but I remember a few years ago in Florence and Rome seeing a lot more like it.

Notice the owner either can't repair the seat, or isn't able to buy a replacement so he or she has put clear plastic over the broken vinyl. When this little thing took off, it was very loud, and very slow, so I think a new exhaust might also be needed.
Do you love tinkering with your car? A lot of us don't, but a few of us really do, there's nothing quite like getting under the hood and getting grease and oil on your hands. I've got a friend who is never happy unless he has black grease under his fingernails from repairing his car.

Doing car repair in your own garage or out on the drive, with a set of tools around you and spare parts cluttering up the floor is awesome, frankly it brings out the best in some people because it opens the mind and shows you how things work.

Most importantly though it's a practical expression of ingenuity, and if you know what you're doing it saves money. DIY mechanics often get a bad rap for drinking too much, playing music too loud, burning rubber in the street, but actually that's a minority. Most car repair enthusiasts are decent folk with a hobby.

But repairing a car is more than just enthusiasm and tools, you also need knowledge and how many of us are trained mechanics - probably not many mechanics know everything as well, in fact they need to read up on different models of cars if they haven't worked on them before, so there is no shame in researching specific jobs you have to do.

Take the example of needing to repair brake system or repair fuel system, these are not car repair topics that can be easily guessed at, you need to know what you're doing, if only to be safe once the car is back on the road.

A few years ago I owned a Mazda RX7, it was a series 2 model, you know the long pointy one with the short back end, small bucket seats and barely enough room in the back for a cat far less a person. But I used to tinker with that car all the time. But you can bet I always made sure I had the right information first. Fast cars need to be safe. Scratch that, all cars need to be safe.
