Life's journey is a funny old track to walk. It doesn't seem so long ago that my journey looked increasingly bleak, almost as if the Gods in heaven had turned on their faster-than-light drives and were quickly disappearing from the neighbourhood of our little blue ball we like to call Earth. The world had been shocked to the core with events that woke many of us from our collective slumber.
These days I look up at the heavens knowing I will do everything in my power to make this a better world.
And that starts with this website, this humble little space where I offer Serendipity templates for
free download, or tutorials to help you customize your own Serendipity template. You can view
MyBlogLog profile as well. It is also where I write about another of my hobbies, learning languages. My partner and I believe fervently in making an effort to learn a few words of as many languages as we can. We know that this is never enough to hold a conversation, but its a respect thing, and we think the world is a better place for a few of us making the effort.
We also know that at some point in the course of our lives the world will be turned upside down again, but not in the context of the doomsayers, no, instead we believe that humanity is on the cusp of great things, that soon enough we will be able to evolve to a higher consciousness, probably in conjunction with our greatest achievement, the artificially aware intelligences that will soon be born.
The singularity promises a golden future, and it is just around the corner. I choose to help the world prepare for this great event by encouraging the growth of the Internet, by helping as many people as I can to understand the technology around them, and by investing my time and money in technology based projects.
I am a passionate supporter of open source software, the
one laptop per child project, wikipedia, science fiction, and the inalienable right of every man, woman or child to be known by their Hobbit name (I'm
Popo Chubb of Deephollow). BTW, I also think I have a reasonable sense of humor, although the other half thinks its way to dry. Ah well, I laugh at stuff the rest of the world doesn't understand, so what?
The Serendipity Users Community
Apart from this blog, I also maintain a separate 'Serendipity Users' site where I currently provide a
directory of Serendipity powered blogs. If your site isn't listed there, please do so, and help promote
Serendipity as a blog engine. As time goes by I plan a lot more features of that site to really develop a sense of community, for example I will soon be launching bi-monthly competitions for the best Serendipity powered blog, with a twist. You see a lot of bloggers aren't designers or html experts, so our competitions will focus on the Serendipity users who develop the best community, or who use their blog for innovative uses, or maybe just those with the most appealing commentary.
The biggest project though, is yet to be launched, and will be the official
Customizing Serendipity Book. The chapter index is being worked on as we speak, and the project should be launched in late January 2007. We will be looking for authors and contributors who must be willing to donate the copyright of their work to the Serendipity project under a Creative Commons license.
Would you like to try Serendipity without having to download and install it? You can! My good Friend Jannis offers a free Serendipity blog with 30 second registration over at
Supersized. All of my templates are available to Supersized users, so...
About Ceejay
Since this blog was first created Ceejay, my beloved other half has decided she no longer wants me to be her spokesperson, I think she thought my ego was just too big and didn't allow her to express herself in her own words. So,
hop on over to her blog where she promises to continue developing templates, but also where she plans to talk about her other passion, photography.
