I'm really happy to release my latest theme, an
affiliate template for Serendipity. Bloggers who are looking for a simple to use template with built-in support for affiliate banners will really love this template.
The template features a sidebar that can be swapped from left to right, or deleted, all within the admin screen, no need to edit any HTML. Also, at the bottom of the template are three plugin columns, ideal for blog rush, mybloglog, recent comments, recent entries, shoutboxes etc.
Here's how it works, after the template is installed (you need
Serendipity)you'll notice a bunch of options to configure. The first large textbox is for advertising between the entries. The template code will actually place your affiliate code above the first and third entries.
Two sizes of ads can be used depending on whether the sidebar is used. With the sidebar, ads can be 468px, and without, which will make the entries use the entire width of the content area, then 728px leaderboard ads can be used.
The second text box allows an ad to be placed inside the entry, provided you use Serendipity's built-in split entry system just like I do. Ad sizes and shapes are not preconfigured, any ad upto the width of the entry (550px or 728px) will be displayed.
The navbar in the header of the template (the links in the blue bar) are configured from within the admin screen, so once again, no more knowledge of HTML needed.
This template has been tested in Firefox, IE7, and Safari. Enjoy.

FTP required. The "advert in extended entry" is perfect for the popular and successful
AdSense Squares, which usually have high Click-Through-Rates. They are inserted
in the right spot. --John
